This kit is based on the immunochromatographic method for the qualitative detection of occult blood in stool. It is intended for in vitro diagnostic use and for use in healthcare service centers.
The presence of occult blood in stool can indicate various diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. By detecting occult blood in stool, various gastrointestinal problems such as colon cancer, polyps, fissures, colitis, diverticulitis, and ulcers of the lower gastrointestinal tract can be detected. Conventional Guaiac-based methods lack the necessary sensitivity and specificity and have dietary restrictions before testing. The iFOB test is a rapid test for the qualitative detection of low levels of occult blood in stool. The principle of this test is based on the sandwich method, using two monoclonal antibodies against human hemoglobin, which specifically detect occult blood in stool at a concentration of 50 ng/mL (or 6 μg/g) or higher. In addition, unlike Guaiac-based tests, the accuracy of iFOB test results is not affected by an individual's diet.
The test cassette contains gold nanoparticles conjugated with anti-human Hb monoclonal antibodies on the conjugate pad, as well as anti-human Hb antibodies in the test line (T) region. When a sufficient volume of sample is added to the cassette well, the sample moves along the membrane by capillary action to react with the anti-hemoglobin antibody, and if hemoglobin is present in the sample, a colored line forms in the test region.
